

Etheline Eugenie Maloney was born on December 1, 1917 in the District of Keynsham, Parish of Manchester, Jamacia (Britsh) West Indies to the late Sarah Ann and Edward Roaché. She was the youngest of eight children. On Friday, May 9, 2014 she departed this life and entered eternal glory to be with the Lord.
Etheline’s mother passed away when she was 13 years old. Her oldest sister, a college professor, and her husband, a prominent physician took her under their wings. She became a school teacher, but her thirst for helping others led her to enter the nursing profession and she became a nurse. She worked at Andrews Memorial Hospital in Jamacia for several years. When Etheline came to the United Stated in 1968, she continued her nursing career at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. After retirement, Etheline lived in Williamsburg, Virginia and Brooklyn, New York before moving to Fayetteville, Georgia in 1988.
Etheline was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Neville Emmanuel Maloney on June 12, 1940. To this union was born three daughters, Angela Burgess, Maxine Thompson, Carol Mitchell and one son, the late Neville Tyrone Maloney.
Etheline accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She loved the Lord and lived for Him everyday of her life. She was a Sunday School Teacher at Assembly Hall Gospel Church in Jamaica, West Indies from 1960 to 1968. She was a member of the Bethany Gospel Hall Church Choir in Brooklyn, New York from 1977 to 1988. Etheline became a member of The Body of Christ Church International U.S.A. on September 2, 2001. As a faithful member she enjoyed the fellowships of Victorious Women For Christ and was a part of the Advancing Christian Fellowship. Additionally, she enjoyed for several years being a member of the STAR Program at the Fayette Senior Center in Fayetteville, Georgia.
Etheline was truly a God-fearing, caring, giving and loving woman of God. She loved her family and she instilled godly precepts in them. As a woman of God, she led by example and was greatly loved and respected by her family and those who knew her.
“Lyn” as she was affectionately called, was a very talented woman. Early in life she was a track runner. She was an excellent seamstress with a specialty in wedding dresses. In October 2010 she received special recognition for an article she wrote in the “Spotlight A Star” magazine featured by the Fayette Senior Center. In May, 2012 she was awarded by the Fayette Senior Center 1st Prize for her essay on “What I Like About Being Older”. She also loved to cook, walk, and crochet.
Etheline leaves to cherish her memories, three daughters, Angela (Glenmore) Burgess of Williamsburg, Virginia, Maxine (Doward) Thompson of Fayetteville, Georgia , Carol (Ripton) Mitchell of Newport News, Virginia; one daughter-in-law, Marjorie Maloney of Bronx, New York; twelve grandchildren, Donna Thompson of Fayetteville, Georgia, Karen Long of Stafford, Virginia, David (Francett) Thompson of Jonesboro, Georgia, , Glen Burgess of Bouie, Maryland, Carey (Tara) Harper of Hampton, Virginia, Mark Maloney of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Nicole Maloney, Neville Maloney Jr., Trudi Maloney of Bronx, New York, Marianna Maloney and Deborah Maloney of Laurelton, New York, Tyrone Maloney of Miramar, Florida.; thirteen great-grand children, Carmen Thompson of Fayetteville, Georgia, Saarabia Long of Stafford, Virginia, Dale Long of Washington, D.C., Deja Thompson, Carlos Thompson, Maxine Thompson, Karianna Thompson, Chrystian Thompson of Jonesboro, Georgia, Gianni Knarr, Guiseppe Knarr of Newport News, Virginia, Chloe Maloney of Bronx, New York, Matthias Maloney, Velise Maloney of Laurelton, New York and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
