He graduated from high school and went to Young Harris College where he only grew even more impressive. He was so talented that after two years he was accepted to Pratt Institute in New York City which is among the top schools in the world. Pratt ranks fifth in the world for art and design and listed as one of the top five most influential design schools of the past half century. The School of Architecture ranked sixth among the most prominent Schools of Architecture in the world. Ronnie completed double degrees from Pratt, a BS in Architecture and BA in Fine Arts -sculpture & painting. When Ronnie started at Pratt he was so good the professors could not believe it. They called him in and said they were not sure how he could have gained such technique and skill so quickly, they had him complete a full piece of art in front of them to prove he was doing his own work. When he finished they were amazed and asked if he had any idea of his IQ. After Ronnie stated he did not know his IQ they asked if he would allow them to test him where he tested at a 135 IQ, putting him roughly, in the top 3%. He graduated with Highest Honors in both degrees. He began a career and never looked back as he went on to be known as J. Ron Colvin in the world of architecture. He was a professional artist in sculpture and painting, photography and he was also a published Illustrator.
Ronnie is survived by his parents, Ron and Wanda Colvin; and his brothers, Bunky Colvin (Angela) and Dan Colvin (Lisa). He was also an Uncle of epic proportion to his nieces and nephews, Justin, Bethany, Madeline, Sam, and Ava Colvin, and they will all continue to cherish his memory.
He believed strongly in, his savior, Jesus. A public Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held, on the square, in McDonough, GA on October 1, 2017 at 3:00pm.
We will miss Ronnie every day until we see him again. Don't feel sorry for us. Yes we are sad but, we were given the greatest gift, Ronnie Colvin and we have his finger prints all over our life. Our hearts, minds, and lives were touched by a genius and he was used by God to sculpt us into better people as a result. ‘As you look down on us Ronnie, all we can say is that we love you and Thank You!’ - The Colvin Family.
