James Silva, 93, of Surfside Beach, S.C., died Thursday, January14, 2021 at Piedmont Fayette Hospital, Fayetteville, Georgia, surrounded by family members. He was born in Ludlow, Massachusetts, on December 20, 1927 to Joseph and Maria Silva. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria, and siblings, Albert, Eddie, Cesar, Connie, Alphonso, and Joseph.
Survivors include two sons, James J. Silva; Joseph A. (Judy) Silva of Fayetteville, Georgia; a daughter, Kathleen E. (Melissa) Silva, of Candler, North Carolina; brother, Frank “Chico” Silva of Florida; sister, Virginia Mendes of North Fort Myers, Florida; eight grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
Before retirement, James worked at Westinghouse, Smith and Wesson, Jaun Foundry, Crucible Steel, and finally Mercer Paper Tube Corporation. He was a member of the Ludlow Lions Club and Ludlow Golden Agers. He spent most of his life camping, saltwater fishing, and clamming. James was most content when spending time with the family, and he will truly be missed.
Services will be held later in the years at Island Pond Cemetery, Ludlow, Massachusetts.
