He was preceded in death by his soul mate of 53 years Ruth Mills; his parents Grover and Ruth Roberts Mills; and his brother Robert Mills.
Joe was born on Saturday, May 8, 1932 in Goshen, Alabama and grew up helping work with the family farm during the Great Depression. In 1947, he decided to enlist in the Army and dedicated 35 years to civil service. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working with Dobermans including his faithful companion Cognac, gardening, and driving his Ford trucks and Lincoln Continentals.
Joseph is survived by his brother Albert C. Mills; his son, Joseph W. Mills and his daughters; Cathy Ratelle, Sherion Goodson and Lynn Williams; his grand-daughters; Stephanie Galanti, Destiny Williams, Becca Williams, Amanda Mills and Megan Williams; his grandsons; Brian Goodson, Michael Mills and Dawson Williams; his great-grandchildren; Lily Goodson, Jackson Galanti, Sophie Goodson, Braden Galanti, and Aurora Williams; as well as many nieces, other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, May 21st in the Chapel of Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home in Peachtree City, Georgia.
