

Phillip William Lee's life journey started on September 2, 1939, from the union of Verdella Louise White Lee and William Sam Lee, in Atlanta, GA. Phillip accepted Christ at an early age and joined Friendship Baptist Church, in Georgiana, AL, which was founded by his late grandfather, Rev. Phillip William White. He completed grade school at Robert H. Austin in Georgiana, AL.
He served in the Merchant Marines for 7 years, traveling throughout the world. Upon returning, he settled in New York in January 1967 and met Thereasa Brown. Together they journeyed through life as one for 43 years. To this union two daughters were born: Laya A. Lee of McDonough, GA and Kemba N. Lee of Snellville, GA. Phillip also fathered another daughter from a previous relationship while in the Merchant Marines: Cynthia Holtzclaw McCray of Columbus, GA. Phillip continued his education in business administration, at City University of New York. Later in life, obtained his Associates degree in Marketing, from Atlanta Metropolitan Trade School.
Career wise, Phillip was in law enforcement, both in New York and Atlanta. He finished his career with MARTA (Atlanta's transit system) before retiring.
He departed from his life's journey on October 9, 2010. Preceding him in death are his father, mother, two sisters, Anne Lucas and Betty J. Smith (Arthur-living in Atlanta); and his grandson Stanley McCray, Jr. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Thereasa B. Lee (Fairburn, GA); his daughters, Cynthia McCray (Stanley McCray, Columbus, GA), Laya A. Lee (McDonough, GA), and Kemba N. Lee (Snellville, GA); his brothers, William Stuart Lee (Leeonise Lee, New Orleans, LA), R. Travis Lee (St. Petersburg, FL), Charles Henry Lee (Wynette Lee, Birmingham, AL); his sister, Juanita Lee Dixon (John Edwards, Georgiana, AL); one sis-in-law, Hollie Brown (CA); and one brother-in-law, Artis Brown (AL); three grandchildren, Brandy K. McCray, Lorenzo Aaron McCray, and Heru Kamau; one great grandchild, Jalaya McCray; and a host of other relatives and friends that will all miss him dearly.
