Terry L Homan

Terry L. Homan, of Sharpsburg, GA, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at the age of 63, following a courageous battle with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Born in Columbus, MS to Jimmie Dale and James Homan, Terry grew up in Millport and Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

A proud graduate of Tuscaloosa County High School, Class of 1979, and Terry’s career began with Coca-Cola Bottling Company during high school and continued with distinguished service in the United States Navy from 1979 to 1987. As an Aviation Fire Control Technician and Naval Recruiter, he exemplified dedication and skill. Terry retired in December 2020 from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), where he worked as an Aviation Systems Technician and Aviation Safety Inspector.

Terry had a profound passion for aviation, and his interests extended to camping, boating, water skiing, scuba diving, snorkeling, and Alabama football. Above all, he cherished his time with family and friends.

Terry was preceded in death by his mother and his fraternal and paternal grandparents. He is survived by his loving wife, Leslie; his cherished children, Scott and Robin Homan; his beloved daughter-in-law, Kimberly; and his adored grandchildren, Katelyn, Grace, Bennett, and Ryan. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Samantha, and his loving father, James Homan.

Pallbearers include Robin Homan, Scott Homan, James Solar, Dale Christian, Paul Fetterly, and Donald Sanford.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the ALS Clinics at Emory University Hospital and ATL VA Medical Center, as well as the staff at Sacred Journey Hospice, for their compassionate care and support during Terry’s illness.

Visitation: Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 from 5:00pm-8:00pm (EST) at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home located at 135 Senoia Rd, Peachtree City, GA 30269.

Funeral will be held Thursday, August 22, 2024 at 1:00pm (CST) at Dowdle Funeral Home located at 270 McAdam's St, Millport, AL 35576. Family will be receiving guests at 12:00pm (CST). Interment to follow at Macedonia Freewill Church Cemetery located at 865 Macedonia Church Circle, Shaw, Alabama 35576.
