

Thomas Franklin Young Jr. (b. April 14, 1928) of Peachtree City, GA, formerly of Sharpsburg and Hapeville, GA; Belmont, McAdenville, and Mooresville, NC passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2015. His final days were in residence at Hope Center for Memory Care in Fayetteville GA.
He is predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Mary Ann Russell Young; parents, Frank and Virginia Young; and brother, Richard Young. He is survived by son, Chip Young of Tyrone, GA; daughters, Beth and Henry Dawkins of Peachtree City, GA, and Sally and Richard Markham of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Amanda (Dawkins) and David DeBuc of Newnan, GA, Mary Dawkins of Atlanta, GA, John Dawkins of Peachtree City, GA, Jessie (Dawkins) and Matt Beck of Columbia, SC, Maggie Dawkins of Hayden, AL, Ginny Markham of Atlanta, GA, Nicole Young of Atlanta, GA, and Scott Markham of Oxford, MS; great-grandchildren, Mason and Miles DeBuc, and Mary Ann Beck; brother, Buddy and Shirley Young of Plain Dealing, LA; and sister, Kay Conner of Clinton, TN.
Tommy ("TY") was a Navy Veteran from Washington, DC in the late 1940s. He joined the ranks of Piedmont Airlines in Charlotte, NC in 1958, then; transferred to Atlanta, GA in 1962 to open operations there. He became the Atlanta Cargo Manager, serving until his retirement in 1988. Tommy was active in the Belmont and Hapeville Presbyterian Churches, serving as deacon and elder for many years. He was a member and leader in the Hapeville Exchange Club, Hapeville Historical Society, and Atlanta Area Cargo Association. Tommy's charismatic personality was infectious, and he lived his life to its fullest through his service to others.
Visitation will be at the Tyrone Depot on Thursday February 26 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Peachtree City on Friday, February 27 at 11:00am. Interment will be at Willow Valley Cemetery in Mooresville NC on Saturday February 28 at 11:00am.
