

Ann Sistrunk Vanlandingham, 92, died Monday, February 28, 2011 at Brandon Nursing and Rehab Center, Brandon. Funeral services are 2:00pm Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl with interment to follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends two hours prior to services.
Mrs. Vanlandingham was born September 3, 1918 in Plaquemine Parrish, Louisiana. Her birth parents died from the flu epidemic of 1918 and she was adopted with her twin brother by Richard and Gouley Sistrunk at the age of six months. The family lived in Bay St. Louis and Gunnison, Mississippi before moving back to their home in Brooksville, Florida.
Ann married Elliott (Pete) Vanlandingham in 1941 and after the war, Ann and Pete moved to Mississippi where they raised five children. Ann worked as a secretary and clerk for several offices and was employed by the Mississippi State Welfare Department's Brandon office at the time of her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elliott (Pete) Vanlandingham; parents, Richard and Gouley Sistrunk; brothers, Louis, Sidney and Roy Blanchard and Mike Breslin; and daughter-in-law, Linda Vanlandingham.
Survivors include daughters, Minnie Porch (Glenn) of Pearl and Ruth Holley (Henry) of Meridian; sons, Elliott Vanlandingham of Pearl, Richard Vanlandhingham (Betanya) of Whitesburg, GA and Jerry Vanlandingham of Brandon; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 2 step-great-grandchildren; brother, Joe S. Sistrunk (Myrtle) of Melbourne, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
