Barbara Romines

Barbara Jean Romines passed away peacefully at St. Dominic’s Hospital on May 24, 2025. She was born in Rochester, Illinois on September 22, 1937, to Claude and Julia Bell. Barbara worked alongside her parents at their diner, Bell’s Cafe, in Mechanicsburg, Illinois where she later met her handsome husband, Wayne Romines. The two were married in August of 1956 and resided in Illiopolis, Illinois until they later relocated to Pearl, Mississippi, in 1971.

Barbara was a loving and devoted wife and a caring and dedicated mother to her four children. She spent most of her life supporting her family through homemaking, caretaking, and by attending her children’s many life events. Later in life, Barbara enjoyed perusing garage sales, working on puzzles, watching hummingbirds, visits to the local donut shop, remaining active in her church, and—her favorite—being Granny to her grands and great grands.

Barbara was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church of Pearl for over 45 years. She served her church faithfully by teaching Sunday School, participating in Women’s Auxiliary, serving as Church Secretary, and volunteering as a dorm counselor for girls at church camp. She had a full life and most importantly, Barbara loved Jesus with her whole heart. She demonstrated to her family and friends how to live a Godly life through her devotion to the reading of God’s word and prayer. This personal relationship with Christ was truly an example for others to follow. Barbara left a lasting, positive impact on those she came in contact with.

Barbara is survived by her children, Linda Long (Kenny), Ron Romines (Joneen), Ricky Romines (Michelle), and Rodney Romines (Holly); her grandchildren: Ricky Romines Jr. (Melissa), Olivia Lowery (Jeff), Kristin McNair (Ellis), Seth Romines (Allyson), Emily Long, Sarah Romines, Brad Baskin (Leslie), and Ashley Hopper (Gerrit); and her great-grandchildren: Hannah, Joy, Everette, Shepherd, Josiah, Olivia, Evelyn, and Kendall; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Romines; parents, Claude and Julia Bell; and brother and sister in law, Paul Freeman and Cleon Bell.

Visitation will be held from 4:00pm until 7:00pm, Friday, May 30, 2025, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Visitation will also be at 10:00 am, Saturday, May 31, 2025, with funeral services at 11:00am.

Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Gardens in Brandon.
