The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. The memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, February 24, 2023 in the funeral home chapel.
He was born on June 29, 1944 to the late William Jay Yates and Mary Larceni Clark Yates in Batesville, Mississippi. Billy was a member and passionate supporter of Faith Family Church of God in Pearl and Acadia Church of God. He was active in his faith, known for faithfully participating in fundraising to help support their missions. Billy proudly served our country in the United States Navy and was a business owner for 30 years of The Carpet Source, a carpet cleaning service. In his free time, he enjoyed cooking, hosting people in his home, interacting with the public and talking to people.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Billy is survived by his beloved wife, Lorelei Ann Yates; daughters, Kimberley Renee Yates and Stacey Lynn Smith; brothers, Jarret Wayne Yates (Nancy), Ricky Shannan Yates, and Kenneth Wade Yates (Shelia); grandchildren, William Tyler Smith and Zackery Taylor Smith; and several other dear extended family members and friends.
