Bonnie worked at Bell South for more than 36 years. She started as an operator and progressed to senior management. Upon her retirement, she continued with the company as a consultant.
Bonnie was a loving mother and true matriarch of her family. Her children and grandchildren were her world and she was ever-present in their lives. Although a staunch disciplinarian, she instilled strong personal values and an exceptional work ethic.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Norman Charles Acey and Phronia Wade Acey, and 3 sisters. She is survived by a sister, Johnna Freeman (Jim); children, Darlene Bryant (Marty), David Scott (Monica), Daphne Williams (Terry), and Dana Downs (Gordon); grandchildren, Michael Scott (Crystal), Bradley Scott, Jessyi Reed (Jody), Christopher Williams (Kari), Jennifer Parker (Ben), Chase Williams (Brecken), Andrew Bryant, Aaron Bryant (Allison), and Mary Grace Downs; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In accordance with her wishes, a private interment service will be held at Floral Hills Memory Gardens on February 21, 2025. Officiant will be Rev. Chad Hunsberger.
Bonnie’s family wishes to express their sincerest gratitude to her many caregivers at Cooperwood Senior Living, including Kisha, Nelva, Anita, Amiya, Christina, and Leslie. There are countless others who were simply angels to her. The family would also like to extend their sincere thanks to the team at Traditions Hospice, especially Mary Hart.
