

Charles Junior Byrd, age 91, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026. He was born on October 22, 1934, in Mize, Mississippi, where he was also raised and built the foundation of a life marked by hard work, dedication, and love for his family.
Charles spent the majority of his life working as a truck driver, a profession he took great pride in. Over the years, he drove company trucks hauling mobile homes, RVs, and motorhomes across the country. His strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his family were evident throughout his long career. Remarkably, he continued working until the age of 89, a testament to his resilience and determination.
He was preceded in death by his father, W. L. Byrd; his mother, Rachel Ainsworth Byrd; his brother, Chris Hubert Byrd; and his grandson, John Michael Vanderford.
Charles leaves behind a loving legacy through his seven children and their spouses, one stepdaughter, along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who will cherish his memory for years to come.
A service to celebrate Charles’s life will be held on Monday, March 23, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl, Mississippi. Family visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., with friends welcome from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel, and burial at 3:00pm at Terry Cemetery in Terry, Mississippi.
Charles will be remembered for his enduring strength, his dedication to his work, and most importantly, his deep love for his family.
