She was born January 24, 1932 to the late Hilbun Gregory and Ethel Prestridge Gregory in Hollandale, Mississippi. A graduate of Central High School, she became one of the first females to be a Justice Court Judge in Mississippi when she began at Hinds County. She then worked for several years as a Deputy Clerk with the Hinds County Circuit Clerk Office. Demetra was a member of Forest Hill Church of God of Prophecy for over 50 years. Her smile lit up the room, and she had a heart of God. Like a true Christian, she would give to anyone in need. In her free time, she enjoyed completing word search puzzles and watching soap operas. In her later years, she loved doting on her grandchildren; anyone that she talked to them about could see her just beam with pride as she did.
Demetra was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 33 years, Bill Hendrick.
She is survived by her daughter, Renee Conrad (Ron); son, Ronnie Hendrick (Debbie); grandchildren, Kira (Clint), Erin, and Taylor; great-grandchildren, Alex, Christian, and Anders; and her sister, Lois Thomason.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.baldwinleepearl.com for the Hendrick family.
