

Visitation will be held from 4:00pm until 7:00pm, Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services are 10:00am, Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Grandview Baptist Church on Pearson Road in Pearl. Graveside services will follow at 2:00pm at the Ora Cemetery in Collins.
Jerry was a Godly man and a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His family was at the center of all that he did. Jerry and his wife, Billie Sue, joined Grandview Baptist Church in Pearl in the late 1960’s and they attended services faithfully. Jerry also served as a deacon for many years.
Jerry proudly served our country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corp.
Jerry worked as a tour bus driver/operator for more than 43 years during which time he was employed with Greyhound, Trailways and Cline bus lines. Jerry was loved and respected by coworkers and passengers alike, many of whom specifically requested Jerry for their trips.
In his free time he enjoyed watching Ole Miss football, reading and studying. Jerry was a history buff and appreciated books and documentaries about historical events.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Billie Sue Carr Fortenberry, and they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this October. He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Randy Salter; grandchildren, Will Salter and fiancée Madison, Addie Salter, and Wyatt Salter; nephew, Greg Fortenberry; nieces, Pam McKeithen, and Pat DeLaughter; dear friends, Bud and Jo Tingle; and his faithful canine companion for the last 12 years, Oreo.
