After a battle with congestive heart failure, Frances “Lois” Smith passed away in the comfort of her home in Richland, surrounded by several family members. Lois passed away on June 02, 2023, at the age of 87. Lois leaves behind the following people: Robert Miller – brother, Dorothy Jacoby – sister, Mary St. Pierre – sister, Willie Frederick “Freddie” Smith – son (Lorraine), Judy Straut – daughter (Steve), 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Lois was born in 1935 in Belzoni, MS. She was born to Josephine Barnett Miller. Lois was a long-time seamstress and she retired from Williamson-Dickey in 1997. Lois had an avid love for children and raised several throughout her lifetime.
Lois was a lifelong follower of God and Jesus Christ. She was a long-time member of the Church of God in Vicksburg, MS. Lois was married to William Frederick Smith for 61 years. Lois leaves behind several family members who loved and cared for her, and her dog Callie “little bit”.
Lois was preceded in death by the following people: Josephine Miller – mother, James Miller – brother, Ronnie Miller – brother, Willie Miller – brother, Frederick Brady Miller – brother, two baby sons, and one baby great-great-granddaughter, and her dog Poppy.
Lois’s funeral services will be held at Baldwin-Lee funeral home in Pearl, MS on June 08, 2023, at 12:00pm. She will be buried at Glenwood Memorial in Richland, MS, immediately following the funeral service.
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm until 7:00pm on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl.
