She was born September 2, 1961, in Hinds County, Mississippi, a daughter of the late Paul and Dorothy Penner.
Gina was a strong Christian woman and a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Pearl. Easter was always one of her favorite holidays, not only for the resurrection of her Savior Jesus Christ, but also because her eldest daughter was born on Easter Sunday, so it only seems fitting that she was called Home on Easter weekend. She had a servant’s heart and made multiple sacrifices to put her family’s needs and desires before her own. Her greatest joy in life was her family. Whether it be holiday celebrations or impromptu get-togethers, Gina was happiest when spending time with those she loved. She adored her children and grandchildren and her life revolved around them. Anyone who knew her knows in her free time she enjoyed her diet cokes, tending to her flower pots and pets.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Olan Penner.
Survivors include husband, Donald Shay; daughters, Brandi Davis, Kayla Davis, and Tara King and husband Bryan; step-son, Michael Shay and wife Leanna; and grandchildren, Tyler Davis, Blaire Massey, Katy Grace King, Madison King, Allie Shay and Emmy Shay.
