

He was born November 26, 1944, in Milan, Tennessee, a son of the late Paul Inman Thompson and Annie Grace Smith Thompson.
Randy enjoyed a long and dedicated career as an educator and sports coach. For many years, he taught science and biology and coached the wrestling team at the Mississippi School for the Blind. He later served as a teacher, wrestling and activities coach at the Tennessee School for the Blind. In recent years, he worked as a vendor through the Business Enterprise Program.
Randy had a genuine sense of civic responsibility. He dedicated much of his free time to his community, both as a member of the Lions Club, the Mississippi Council of the Blind and as a Boy Scout Troop leader.
Randy was a longtime member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Jackson. After moving to Brandon he attended Park Place Baptist Church in Pearl.
In addition to his parents Randy was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Douglas Thompson.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Bonnie Gordon Thompson; sons, Allen Masterson and wife Sharon, and Darrell Masterson and wife Karen; daughters, Wanda Allen and husband Wayne, and Laura Lynn Thacker and husband Roy; sister, Sara Fitzgerald and husband Joe; sister-in-law, Donna Thompson; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Randy’s family will receive friends from 5:00pm until 7:00pm, Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services will follow at 7:00pm in the funeral home chapel. Graveside services will be held at 10:00am, Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Pearl.
