The family will receive friends from 11:00am until 1:00pm on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. A graveside service only will be held at 1:30pm at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl.
She was born on May 14, 1945 to the late Monroe Snowden and Ira Lee Pugh Snowden in Mobile, AL. Joanne graduated from Newton High School and adored being a dedicated home maker. She was a member of First Baptist Church Richland. In her younger years, Joanne was known to babysit and enjoyed caring for children. The neighborhood kids called her Mama Jo. During more recent times, she could be found completing countless crossword puzzles and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Peggy Skipper (Stacey) and Marie Pillsbury (Edward) of Waukesha, WI and by her sister-in-law, Ann Snowden.
Joanne is survived by her endearing husband of 47 years, Shelton Moore; children, Shellee Britt (Johnny), Stacy Moore (Laurie), Rita Youghn, Troy Newsom (Gina), and Sam Newsom (Katherine); brother, Donald Snowden of San Antonio, Texas; sister, Tish Ellison (Steve) of Tularosa, NM; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She will be so deeply missed.
