Mr. Black was a devoted husband, father, and papaw. He was larger than life and wore many hats. He dearly loved his family, his friends, his community, his church and his country. He served in the Air Force from 1986 -1990, on the Reservoir Fire Department from 1990 -1991 and retired as Captain with the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department where he served from 1991 -2012. He served as Maintenance Director at FBC Fannin from 2012 to present and served on every board he could be a member on. He was the proud “Voice of the Dragon’s” for 20+ years. He loved every minute and had so many fond memories of the times. He always had a joke and funny story to tell. His smile was contagious, his laugh infectious. He had a true servant’s heart and will truly be missed.
He leaves behind a loving wife, Paralee Black, kids and grandkids – Taylor, Morgan, Mason, Donavin, Kyla and Gabriel, as well as a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Larry Claud Black, Sr. and Dorothy Estelle Black.
“If we live, we live for the Lord: and if we die, we die for the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.” Romans 14:8
