

Visitation will be 5:00-8:00pm, Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services are 10:00am, Wednesday, April 15, 2015 in the funeral home chapel. Graveside services will follow at 1:30pm in the Sartinville Cemetery in Walthall County.
She was born Saturday, August 23, 1930 in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of the late Willie Gashom Clark and Lottie May Dudley.
Mrs. Holmes was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church in Pearl. She was formerly a member of Van Winkle Baptist Church in Jackson, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the church choir, and established the first Single Adult Ministry in the State of Mississippi.
For years she worked as a professional seamstress, crafting garments and home furnishings for families in Rankin County and the Greater Jackson area. Her hobbies included gardening and reading. A devoted, Christian mother and grandmother, her favorite times were spent with her beloved family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby G. Holmes, and son-in-law, John Poe.
Survivors include, daughter, Melanee Holmes Pittman and husband Michael; daughter, Esther Holmes Poe; son, Herbert Ray Holmes; sister, Polly Clark Housewright; brother, Dellon Ray Clark; grandchildren, Drew Pittman, Heather Pittman Warren, Melissa Poe, Ashley Meetze and Stephen Pittman; and great-grandchildren, Johnathan Warren, Jay Meetze, Sutton Warren, Reilly Pittman, Delia Jordan Poe, Jacob Meetze, Evelyn Warren and Mary Caroline Warren.
