Mary Ernestine “Ernie” Rogers Murray, of Pearl, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, September 17, 2022. Ernie was born on September 28, 1922, in Pearl, Mississippi to the late Ernest Lazarus Rogers and Ellen Viola Collins Rogers. She was predeceased by her husbands’ Robert Walon Praytor and John Clanton “Lawyer” Murray, Jr., sisters Mildred Eiland (Pete), Maggie Elizabeth Morgan (Earl), Rosanna Rogers, by brothers James Niermon Rogers (Phyllis), Collis Joseph Rogers, Lazarus Matthew Rogers and Nolan Ray Rogers (Shirley) all of Pearl and grandson Michael Walon Praytor, Jr.
Ernie leaves behind sons Robert Ernest Praytor (Lynette) of Ridgeland, Michael Walon Praytor (Suzanne) of Gretna, Louisiana, 6 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, niece Ellen Gilbert Russell who was like a daughter to her and numerous nieces and nephews with many memories to cherish.
A private funeral service will be held at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl on Wednesday for the immediate family.
Ernie was one of the original parishioners of St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Pearl and the family requests that in lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude’s Church at 399 Barrow Street in Pearl, Mississippi 39208.
