She was born March 9, 1965, in Simpson County, Mississippi, a daughter of the late Robert Earl Hosey and Fannie Craft Hosey.
Melissa retired from Merit Health Central after 37 dedicated years of service as a respiratory therapist, a career she approached with compassion, skill, and unwavering dedication to the care of others.
Melissa was very close to her family and was especially proud of her daughters. She found great joy in seeing her youngest daughter follow in her footsteps into the medical field.
In her free time, Melissa was an avid reader and a devoted fan of Looney Tunes, especially Bugs Bunny. Her favorite color was orange, a fitting reflection of her bright and sunny disposition that brought warmth and happiness to those around her.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her grandchild, Brelynn McFarland; and nephew, Brandon Hosey.
She is survived by her children and their father, Megan McFarland (Joshua McFarland), Kristin Brenton (David Hall), Abby Brenton (Jimmy Tadlock), and Timmy Brenton; grandchildren, Cayden McFarland, Lillie McFarland, and Karter Brenton; brothers, Jamie Hosey, and Chad Hosey (Diane Hosey); sister, Tracy Runnels; granddogs, Milo and Otis; and a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends.
