She was born on September 3, 1931 to the late James Ira Jones and Minnie Matilda Jones in Laurel, Mississippi. Millie was a faithful member of Braxton United Methodist Church. She enjoyed a career of many years with General Electric Co. and later went on to manage a day care facility. Primarily, however, Millie was a devoted homemaker. Though humble in admitting her own aptitude, she was indeed a very talented seamstress who was happy to offer guidance to those just learning the ropes of sewing. In addition, Millie solely crafted all of her children's clothing in their younger years. In her free time, she could be found out in the yard, carefully tending to her meticulously kept flower beds.
Preceding her in death is her husband of 49 years, Millard Ray Alford, Jr., her parents, James Ira and Minnie M. Jones, her brother James Jones, sisters Ruth Morrissette and Addie Mae Alexander.
Millie is survived by her children, Rebecca Leigh Temple (Kenny), Lisa Michele Blaylock (Sam), and Morris “Ray” Alford (Lena),her grandchildren, Clayton R. Temple, Mallary Rodgers, Regan Wray, Jennifer Brown, Craig Alford, Ryan Alford, Landon Alford, six great grandchildren and a host of beloved extended family members, church family, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Braxton United Methodist Church at PO Box 177, Braxton, MS 39044 in her memory.
She will be so dearly missed.
