

Olan Earl Penner, 68, was born on September 12, 1947, in Jackson, Mississippi, the son of Paul and Dorothy Penner. He went to Heaven on February 28, 2016, in Memorial Hermann Hospice Center in Houston, Texas.
Olan graduated from Pearl High School in 1965, and from Sam Houston University in Huntsville, Texas, with a degree in Criminal Justice. He retired from the Texas State Attorney General’s Office in Houston, Texas. He was a member of Midway Community Church in Midway, Texas.
Olan was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Dorothy Penner, his mother- in- law, Dorothy Swearingen, and his father- in- law, Dr. Robert E. Swearingen.
Olan is survived by his wife of 27 years, Catherine S. Penner, daughter Monica P. Bronson and husband David Bronson of Lonoke, Arkansas, granddaughter Ashley Bronson Fugo and husband Anthony Fugo of Little Rock, Arkansas, grandson Chance Penner Bronson of Lonoke, Arkansas, sister Gina Penner Shay of Pearl, two brothers-in-law , Rev. Bill Swearingen and wife Rosa of Hewitt, Texas, and Paul Swearingen of Houston, Texas. Olan is also survived by five nieces and two nephews-- Brandi Davis, Kayla Davis, Tara Davis King, Maria Swearingen, Caitlin Swearingen, Carlos Gonzalez, and Trevor Swearingen, two great- nieces – Blaire Massey and Katy Grace King, and one great nephew, Tyler Davis, as well as by many cousins in Mississippi and Kentucky.

Arrangements are by Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl, Mississippi. Visitation will be March 11, 2016, from 5:00 to 8:00. His service will be March 12, 2016, at 10:00 in the Baldwin-Lee Chapel.
