Richard McKinley Calhoun

Visitation will be 5:00-8:00pm, Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services are 11:00am, Friday, October 30, 2015 in the funeral home chapel with interment in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.

He was born Thursday, May 12, 1927 in Hillsboro, Mississippi, a son of the late Richard H. Calhoun and Onie Harrell Calhoun.

Mr. Calhoun was a member of the Lena Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and member of the Masonic Lodge and Shriners. He proudly served with the U.S. Merchant Marines. He was employed with Trailways Bus Lines as a driver for 10 years and retired from Van Trow Oldsmobile after 31 years in sales.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mable Wheeler Calhoun, sister, Sue Alford, and grandson, Hugh Haralson.

Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Lela Calhoun; sons, Rick Calhoun (Kim), Gerald Calhoun (Lori), Eddie Harrell (Marsha) and Tommy Harrell (Becky); daughters, Linda Rester, Kim Wavrin and Gail Russell; brother, Truitt Calhoun (Bonnie); sister, Irene Calhoun; grandchildren, Ryan Calhoun, Hunter Calhoun, Heather Rester, Brian Rester (Brittany), Nathan Purvis (Brittney), Amber Conger (Rocky), Dallas Harrell (Christine), Brooke Holmes (Toby), Paige Harrell (Caleb), Ashley Harrell, Cody Harrell (Sara) and Bailey Alexander (Elliott); and 9 great-grandchildren.
