Bob was born March 7, 1959, in Ferriday, Louisiana, a son of the late Robert A. Hughes and Laura Nell Hosey Hughes. In his early adulthood Bob was a talented boxing competitor, winning the Golden Gloves Championship and Junior Olympics. Bob was a true “people person”, and a key example of the old saying, “he never met a stranger”. This innate ability to communicate well with others, coupled with his skills as an accomplished craftsman, served him well throughout his lengthy career in construction. In his free time Bob enjoyed fishing, watching his favorite Ole Miss football, and indulging his sweet tooth with ice cream and Little Debbies.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sister, Pam Cockrell, and brothers, Keith Hughes, and Mike Henderson.
Survivors include son, Robert A. “Trey” Hughes, III; daughter, Lauren Hughes; brothers, Martin Hughes, and Shannon Hughes; sisters, Gloria Windham and husband Tom, Kathy Middleton and husband Ronnie, Babs Pitts and husband Greg, Janet Parker, and Dorian Taylor and husband Tommy; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
