Robert H. Jenkins, "Paw Paw", a Korean War Veteran, born November 4, 1931 from Pelahatchie, MS passed away at the VA Medical Center in Jackson, MS on August 3, 2018. Visitation will be 5-8pm Monday, August 6, 2018, at Baldwin Lee Funeral Home, Pearl, MS. Services will be 2pm Tuesday in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl, MS.
He was veteran of the Army serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the 25th division of the 27th regiment of the Wolfhound Pack. He worked at Vickers for 12 years and 22 years at Siemens Allis where he retired as a machinist in 1996. He was a baseball coach with the Pearl Youth Association for several years, and the last year of coaching he served as President. He gained notoriety with the naming of the Allen Guyton Baseball field in Pearl. He loved working with the youth and young people of Rankin County. He and his wife Zola have been longtime members of Cross Roads Baptist Church in Pelahatchie, MS.
He was preceded in death by his parents Vesta and Robert B. Jenkins, some brothers and sisters and a grandson Joshua Rouse. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Zola Owen Jenkins from Pelahatchie, MS, a daughter Cathy Jenkins Campbell from Pearl, MS, a son Robbie Jenkins "Hood" from Pearl, MS, a granddaughter Shion (Matthew) Jones from Pearl, MS, a great grandson, Joshua "JJ" Rouse McCullogh, a brother Milton Jenkins from Ocean Springs, MS and a sister Mildred Kirkland from Philadelphia, MS; and several nieces and nephews.
