Roy Emery Byrd, known affectionately to all as "Emery" or "Byrdman," passed away at his home on May 12, 2025, in Pearl, Mississippi, at the age of 62.
A painter by trade and a gentle soul at heart, Emery was deeply loved by all who knew him. His greatest joy in life was being a devoted father to his daughter, Karah Nicole Byrd. Their bond was unbreakable. Emery found his greatest joy in simply spending time with Karah—listening to K-Love radio together, or singing her favorite song, Jesus Loves Me, just to see her smile. His love for her was the purest reflection of who he was.
He often spoke with hope about the day he would be reunited with his mother and sisters in Heaven—a reunion he now embraces with peace.
Emery was preceded in death by his daughter, Jessa Mackenzie Byrd, mother, Lee Omie King, and his sisters, Sandra Byrd and Patty Byrd.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Karah Nicole Byrd; his brothers, Glynn Byrd (Laura) and Jamie Byrd (Ina); his sister, Leta Bowman (George); and his many nieces and nephews who cherished their uncle.
Emery will be missed deeply by all who had the honor of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you share a kind word, a warm memory, or a gentle song in his honor.
