Ruby Barfield

Visitation will be held from 1:00pm until 2:00pm on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. The funeral service will follow at 2:00pm. Burial will take place at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl.

She was born on January 23, 1938 to the late Bryant Squires and Emma Lee Stewart Squires in Scott County, Mississippi. She was a graduate from Ringgold High School in Forest and enjoyed several years playing on the basketball team. Mrs. Ruby worked for several years as a campus police officer for the Mississippi Governor's Mansion, where she also helped care for the family and the children. She was a member of Skyway Hills Church of Christ in Pearl. After retiring, she could be found fishing or watching sports in her free time. She liked to watch baseball games on television and especially loved to watch the Mississippi State girl's basketball games. In addition, Mrs. Ruby was fond of her cats, Patchy, Cato, Silver, and Louis.

She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Wayne Barfield and brothers, James Squires, Earl "Bud" Squires, Bryant "Nookie" Squires Jr., Russell Squires, and Phillip Dean Squires.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Barfield; son, Tony Barfield; brother, Dennis Squires (Hazel); sister, Elizabeth "Sis" Waggoner; and several adoring nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Ruby will be deeply missed.
