He was born in the town of Benoit, Mississippi, in Bolivar County. Later, he and his family moved to Greenville, Mississippi, where he worked on a farm for many years. Troy then learned to build automobile transmissions, and the rest is history. He worked for Ranco Transmissions in Flowood until he retired in 2002.
Troy met the love of his life, Sylvia Faye Porter, in 1967, and they were married in May 1968. For 53 blessed years they took care of each other.
Troy was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, riding four-wheelers, and drinking beer.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Shaw; daughters, Tina Mae Barnes, and Rhonda Faye Barnes (Harley); brothers, Richard Wayne Shaw, and James Travis Shaw; 6 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and his faithful canine companion, Frisky.
Troy was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Arthusa Shaw; brother, Eugene Shaw; and grandchildren, Stormy Sage Barnes, and Jasper Barnes.
Troy will be sincerely missed by his family and many friends.
Visitation will be held from 11:00am until 1:00pm, Thursday, March 25, 2021, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Graveside services will follow at 1:30pm in the Terry City Cemetery.
