Virginia Gillespie Mask, 86, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS after a short illness. Visitation will be today from 5– 7 PM at Baldwin Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 23, 2010 at 11 AM in the funeral home chapel with visitation one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
Virginia was born on February 21, 1924 in Berlin (Bracken County) Ky. She moved to Jackson Ms in 1952 and to Pearl in 1955. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Pearl, the Tel/Dorcas Sunday School Class and Merry Makers. She was a member of Pearl Chapter 384 Order of the Eastern Star and was Past Matron. Virginia retired from Sears after 31 years of service. Her hobby was gardening and making cookies, pies and deviled eggs WITH her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Moody Mask; daughter Barbara G. Cox; parents Gertrude and O.T. Gillespie; sister Juanita Thompson; brother Christopher Gillespie; grandson Charles W. Cox, IV; daughter-in-law Peggy Cresswell Mask; and son-in-law Billy Cox.
Virginia is survived by daughter Shirley Sue Russell; son Jerry "Pappy" Mask; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
