He was born February 9, 1935, in Virginia, and was raised by his mother, Marie. Bill made his home in Pearl in 1965. It is where he lived with the love of his life, Jeanette, for 63 years. In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his daughter, Kim Scotto, son-in-law, Kelly Scotto, and grandson, William Anthony Scotto.
Bill served our country with the U.S. Air Force and was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi. His lifelong love for sports served him well throughout his career as a coach and teacher for the Hinds County School System from where he retired. And Bill was proud to have later served at the Mississippi Highway Patrol Academy.
Never one to sit idle, Bill enjoyed running marathons and working in his garden, and he often played golf until sunset.
Bill was devoted to his wife, daughter, grandson, and son-in-law. He also dearly loved his neighbors and his community.
Bill was most proud of his baptism at McLaurin Heights Baptist Church. He lived every day to serve God. He was so happy talking to people about his faith and the teachings of the Bible, and studied his Bible as well as other books extensively to gain knowledge about his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Bill devoted all of his energy this past year to the care of beloved wife, Jeanette. Her illness has caused her to be homebound, and Bill felt that she was the best thing in his life- truly his best friend.
Bill’s family feels blessed that after a brief illness he passed peacefully in his sleep, close to his wife at home.
