Albert Shaw Jr., 82, passed away on April 13, 2026. Born on September 25, 1943, in Austin, Texas, Albert spent his life grounded in family, faith, and the quiet joys that make a life well lived. A resident of Houston, Texas, he will be remembered with deep respect and enduring love by all who knew him.
Albert attended Texas Southern University, where he spent four years of college and especially enjoyed the camaraderie and time shared with his college roommates—years that helped shape the steady, appreciative spirit he carried forward.
He worked in office services and took pride in his work, including time spent at King and Spalding LLC. In every season of life, Albert carried himself with a calm presence and a sincere appreciation for the people around him.
For 29 years, Albert was married to Jo Ann Shaw. Together they blended their families and shared a life centered on togetherness and simple pleasures. Albert was known for being laid back, and he most enjoyed being with his grandchildren. Albert and Jo cherished unhurried moments outdoors, content in each other’s company, with music playing—proof that the most meaningful days are often the most ordinary ones.
Albert loved watching all sports, proudly rooted for the University of Texas, and was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan. He also loved R&B music, a soundtrack that fit his easy manner and the warmth he brought to family life.
A member of the Dominion Christian Centre, Albert’s faith community was an important part of his life. He carried a guiding outlook that he learned over time: to “enjoy life like it’s golden”—a simple phrase that reflected a grateful way of moving through the world and a legacy of valuing what matters most.
Albert was preceded in death by his father, Albert Shaw, Sr.; his mother, Jenny V. Shaw; and his brother, Jimmy Shaw.
He is survived by his spouse, Jo Ann Shaw; brothers, John O Shaw (Betty), Charles Shaw, and David Shaw; daughters, Monique Shaw-Richardson, Melody Willis, and Pamela Guy; sons, Albert Keith Shaw and Charles Woods, Jr.; 20 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Forest Park South Funeral Home, 12650 Shadow Creek Parkway, Pearland, TX 77584, on April 24, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The Funeral Service will take place on April 25, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Dominion Christian Centre located at 4221 Liberty Road in Houston, Texas 77026. Albert will be laid to rest at Paradise South Cemetery in Pearland, at 2237 Cullen Blvd, following the service.
The family would like to thank Forest Park South Funeral Home and Dominion Christian Centre. And immense appreciation goes to family and friends for their continued love and support through donations, flowers, tributes, and gestures during this difficult time.
