John Henry Smith Jr.

John Henry Smith Jr., age 52, of Pearland, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022. On March 7, 1970, John was born to the late John Henry Smith Sr. and Dorothy Scott in Bryan, TX. John accepted Christ at an early age. He received his formal education from Bryan High School, Class of 1988. He attended Sam Houston State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice.

John Henry Smith Jr. was a faithful member of Silver Lake Church in Pearland, TX, and had a passion for serving God and others, a true servant leader. John Henry Smith, Jr., had an extensive career in Juvenile Justice, Quality Assurance, and Family and Protective Services, Director. His hobbies included going to the beach, riding his Harley Davidson bike, and being an avid sports fan. He was a loving son, father, brother, uncle, nephew, and cousin who enjoyed and took pride in his family.

John Henry Smith Jr. is survived by his mother, Dorothy J. Scott, Bryan, TX; daughter, Kandice Smith, Pearland, TX; sister, Dr. Chaundra Smith-Adams (Quentin), Richmond, TX; nephew, Jamarcus Carter (Victoria), Houston, TX; aunt Dr. Lillian Hoskins, Dallas, TX; aunt Sheila Robinson (Howard), College Station, TX; aunt Linda Asberry (Otis), Bryan, TX; uncle, Robert Smith (Frankie), Houston, TX. He is further survived by a host of other relatives and friends.

John Henry Smith, Jr., was preceded in death by his father: John Henry Smith Sr., Bryan, TX. Grandparents: Augusta and Katie Mae McDade, Bryan, TX; Ruben and Gladys Smith, Bryan, TX; Aunt and Uncle: Rubbie Smith-Toliver and Andrew Smith, Bryan, TX; Uncles: Charles I. Allen, Lawton, Oklahoma, and Harold Turner Lucas, Bryan, TX.

A visitation for John Henry Smith, Jr. will be held Friday, May 6, 2022, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Park South Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at Forest Park South Funeral Home on Saturday, May 7, 2022, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. The committal service will follow at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Paradise Cemetery South, 2237 Cullen Parkway, Pearland, Texas 77581.
