

Born November 2, 1938 in Minier to Albert Edward and Ruth (Gant) Cochran, he married Sharyn Kay Jones on July 17, 1971 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are two sisters, Ruth Babbs of Stanford and Bonnie (Ralph) Denham of Minier; his Goddaughter, Karessa (Larry) Breweur of Pekin and her children, Lilyana and Karlyna Breweur; his Godson, Bret Lighter of Pekin and his son, Brandon Lighter and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Darlene Schultz and one half brother, Bob Dubach.
He was a United States Army veteran.
Al worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 34 ½ years as a semi-truck driver, retiring in 1994. He then worked part time in retirement for Morton Auto Auction as a driver.
He was a faithful volunteer at Southside Mission in Peoria and Ewe’s Treasures in Pekin for more than 15 years. He also enjoyed traveling and working on cars with his wife. He will be fondly remembered as the nicest and most fun-loving man who loved to help people. Al’s favorite hobby was drinking coffee.
He was a member of Pekin First Church of the Nazarene.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Brian Eatock will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Military rites will be accorded following the funeral service by the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team. Cremation will then be accorded with inurnment in Lakeside
Cemetery in Pekin at a later date.
