Amelia M. “Dolly” Calhoun, 96, of Livermore , California formally of Mapleton, Illinois passed away peacefully at 10:45 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Valley Care Medical Center in Pleasanton, CA.
Dolly was born March 2, 1915 in Hollis Township in Peoria County, the daughter of Nicholas & Mary (Backes) Closen. She married Kenneth E. Calhoun in Lewistown, Illinois on March 31, 1949. He preceded her in death on April 24, 2006 in Peoria. Also preceding her were five brothers and her two sons, Paul Calhoun and Larry Glore.
Dolly was a wonderful mother, who loved her family and husband greatly. Her 57 years of marriage was the most wonderful part of her life.
She is survived by two daughters, Elaine (Darrell) Gibson of Livermore, CA, and Tish (Wayne) Sittler of Clermont, Florida; 12 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 6, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Davison-Fulton Woolsey Funeral Home in Pekin, Illinois. The Rev. Keith Huff will officiate. Visitation will be two hours prior to services also at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Maple Ridge Cemetery.
