

Born October 18, 1938 in Kennett, MO to Pete and Sally Mae (Williams) Conover, she was the oldest of seven children. She married Billy Joe Watkins on April 8, 1954. Together they had four children, Sheila (Brian) Gunzenheiser of Pekin, Perry (Gina) Watkins of Jackson, MI, Sara (Dan) Garber of Manito and Lori (Sam) Merritt of Pekin. Bill preceded her in death on October 30, 1988 in Peoria.
She later married James E. Frye on September 8, 2000, with whom she shared the love of fifteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. He preceded her in death on July 3, 2011 in Groveland.
Also surviving are three brothers, Jim (Judie) Conover, Dennis (Tammy) Conover and Rob (Mary Ann) Conover, all of Pekin and two sisters, Carma Nash of Pekin and Linda Jones of Lincoln.
She also was preceded in death by and reunited in Heaven with her parents; her son-in-law, Greg Ringenberger; her sister, Sherry Conover; her brother-in-law, Kenneth Nash; her sister-in-law, Alesia Conover and a nephew, Brian Jones.
Barb retired from Pekin Hospital in 1996.
She was a loving member of Creve Coeur Christian Church. She had an enormous love for God, her country and fried chicken. Barb was an enthusiastic teacher on how to live a moral and productive life to all that knew her. Her favorite saying was “God is Good” expecting a response of “All the Time.”
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2014 at Creve Coeur Christian Church. Pastor Nick Oyler and Pastor John Plunkett will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
