Bernard L "John" Joyce, Jr.

He was born July 22, 1959 in Galesburg to Bernard Lee and Mary (Simpson) Joyce. His parents and one sister preceded him in death.

Surviving are three sons, Stephen Joyce of Pekin, Bernie (Christina) Joyce III of Shawaboro, NC and Jacob Joyce of Peoria; one daughter, Jessica Joyce of Peoria; six grandchildren, Michael A., Little Bernie, Sandra, Michael J., Sawyer and Nevaeh; four sisters, Linda Henderson of Alexis, Brenda (Gene) Sitarz of Peoria, Mary (Tim) Stull of Metamora and Jeanette (John) Studyvin of Tremont; and one brother, Richard Joyce of Pekin.

John had worked for Burkland Distributors as the freezer manager for 25 years, last working in July due to his health.

He loved being with his family, spending time with his grandkids and enjoyed family cookouts. He also enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting and classic rock.

His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. Pastor Jason Morris will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin. Military honors will be accorded by the United States Army and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project at 230 West Monroe St. #200 Chicago, IL 60606.
