

Born February 9, 1934 in Peoria to Henry and Lou Ora (Campbell) Binkele, she married Gerald Kinney on April 9, 1955 in Morton. He died on January 25, 1989 in Danville. Also preceding her in death are her parents; one infant daughter, Barbara; two infant sons, Vernon and James; two brothers and one sister.
Surviving are two sons, Robert E. (Becky) Kinney of North Pekin and Jack L. (Karen) Kinney of Tucson, AZ; one daughter, Lori (Robert) Vanderwerf of Pekin; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Mimi) Binkele of Peoria and one sister, Martha Platis of Pekin.
She had been a member of First Christian Church in Pekin for over 60 years, where she had been active in teaching Sunday school and helping in the nursery.
Betty had worked as a medical transcriptionist at Pekin Hospital, retiring in 2008.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed working crossword puzzles, embroidery and sending cards to family and friends. She also enjoyed being outdoors, walking and traveling, particularly to Wisconsin. She loved animals and being with her family. She was the connecting point for her family.
Her graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin. Pastor Hank Anderson will officiate. There will be no visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
