

Born November 8, 1933 in Mansfield, Pennsylvania to Walter Adelbert and Norma Beatrice (Corwin) Doud, he married Shirley Jean Minyard on July 7, 1956 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Diana Lynn (George) Wall and Kimberly Jean (David) Allen, both of Pekin; five grandchildren, Nicole (Joe) Telford of Pekin, Emily (Derrius) Jackson of Edwardsville, Shane (Christy) Goble of Bloomington, Jennifer (Justin) Collins of Hopedale, and Ryan Allen of Pekin; ten great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Brian (Ruth) Doud of South Euclid, Ohio and Verne (Jean) Doud of Mansfield, Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Delbert Doud and Stephen Doud; and one infant sister, Sarah Elizabeth Doud.
A 1951 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School in Mansfield, Pennsylvania, he received his bachelors of Science degree in education from Mansfield State Teachers College in 1955 and later a master’s degree in school administration from Bradley University in Peoria.
Bruce taught school in Bath, New York for one year then came to Pekin and began teaching for Pekin Public Schools District 108 where he worked for 33 years. He retired as the assistant principal at Edison Junior High School in Pekin in June of 1989. Following his retirement, he was the data services consultant for Pekin Public Schools District 108 at the District Business Office from 1989 to 2001. He also had worked at the Tazewell County School Employees Credit Union in Pekin and was a part-time sales clerk at the Photoggery in downtown Pekin for 20 years.
He was a devoted member of Pekin Bible Church where he was a former Sunday school teacher, choir director and member, and former chairman of the church board. He was a member of the Tazewell County Retired Teachers Association and the Locust Grove Bible Study.
Bruce enjoyed hunting and photography and had photographed many weddings and events.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, October 22, 2012 at Pekin Bible Church. The Rev. Richard Jones will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.
