He was born on March 26, 1951 in Peoria to Clarence O. and Margaret A. (Walker) Gettings. His parents survive.
Also surviving are one son, Michael T. Gettings of Creve Coeur; one grandson; one sister, Carol (Vince) Gutierrez of Creve Coeur; two nephews, Nate Gutierrez and Ryne Gutierrez, both of Creve Coeur; and one niece, Brandy Gettings of Green Valley.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, and one brother, Mark Allen Gettings.
Harry was a die-hard St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.
He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 19, 2010at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home & Crematory in Creve Coeur. The Rev. Fred Doughty will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fon du Lac Cemetery in East Peoria, where military rites will be provided by the United States Army and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
