

Born November 15, 1937 in Chicago to Carl W., Sr. and Elizabeth (Faetz) Hammerl, he married MaryEllen Lindquist on January 30, 1959 in Park Ridge. She survives.
Also surviving are three children, Mark (Diane) Hammerl of West Peoria, Pete (Regina) Hammerl of Eldelstein and Christine (Jim) Usrey of Port Byron; four grandchildren, Nicholas Hammerl of Omaha, Nebraska, Gabrille Hammerl of West Peoria, Emily (Drew) Dial of Sunnyland and Adam (Savannah) Hammerl of Princeville; one step grandchild, Cory Purifoy of Shiloh; three great-grandchildren, Leontay Hammerl of West Peoria, Dominic Dial and Gemma Dial, both of Sunnyland; one sister, Marlene Silvesteri of Mesa, Arizona and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded by his parents.
Carl served in the United States Navy for three years from 1959 to 1962. He was able to participate in a Greater Peoria Honor Flight.
He had worked in banking in Peoria before he became a self-employed home builder, where he built more than 100 homes in the Peoria area.
Carl enjoyed art, specifically painting and singing. He was a former member of the Four Freshmen singing group.
Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
