

Born November 5, 1943 in Peoria to Raymond and Lillian (Stokowski) Durbin, she married John M. Garrett on January 13, 1968 in Peoria Heights. He survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Matthew (Cheryl) Garrett of Dubuque, Iowa, Jeremy (Laura) Garrett of Groveland, and Jared (Steevy) Garrett of Creve Coeur; two grandsons, Joseph and Michael Garrett; two granddaughters, Rachel and Payton Garrett; four sisters, Connie (Dave) Harms of Peoria, Janie (Tom) Eckman of Charlottesville, Virginia, Judy (Rocky) Button of Scottsdale, Arizona and Gina (Biff) Miller of Carefree, Arizona; and two sisters-in-law, Jean Durbin of West Peoria and Jan Hall of East Peoria.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one infant daughter, Megan, one brother, Joe Durbin and one sister-in-law, Kathy Colvin.
A homemaker, Carol enjoyed her children and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed gardening, fishing and embroidering.
Carol was a member of Sacre Coeur Catholic Church in Creve Coeur for thirty five years.
Her funeral mass will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2008 at Sacre Coeur Catholic Church in Creve Coeur. Monsignor William Watson will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, with recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. Additional visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
