

Born May 11, 1936 in Pekin to Alva Frank and Ruby T. (Fisher) Manhusen, she married V. Dewayne Lawson on August 12, 1961 in Pekin. He survives.
Also surviving are her daughter, Kristi Hubbs of Cuba; one grandson, Brock Besette of Pekin; one granddaughter, Brenna Hubbs of Cuba and one sister, Judy (Jack) Kluever of Pekin. She also leaves three sisters-in-law, Patsy Bowers and Ellen (Bob) Morrison and Janet Lawson; one brother-in-law, Bill (Carol K.) Lawson; many nieces and nephews; and many grandnieces and grandnephews.
Carol was a teacher assistant for the Tazewell-Mason Counties Special Education Association at Schramm School in Pekin for 18 years, retiring in 1997. She also had previously worked for Princess Peggy Dress Factory and Patsy’s Bakery.
Carol cherished time spent with her family. She also loved sewing, fishing, gardening, traveling and boating. She enjoyed playing Bunco with her friends and also enjoyed lunch with friends from high school. When her daughter was young she volunteered with the Douglas School P.T.A. and Mother’s Club.
Carol was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. She also was a member of the Pekin Hospital League since 1976 and was a buyer for the league’s gift shop at the hospital.
Her funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. Father Michael Andrejek will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin, withthe recitation of the Rosaryat 4:30 p.m. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
