Catherine E Goldsby

Born December 19, 1925 in Pekin to Edward J. and Mary Edna (Morris) Miller, she married Gene Pfeiffer in 1943. She later married Harris Goldsby on January 25, 1957. He died in 1998. She also was preceded in death by one son, Richard E. Pfeiffer on March 18, 1990; two brothers, Lawrence “Bud” Miller and Gene Miller and three sisters, Harriett Marshall, Marjorie Cox and Rita Faye Barrus.

Surviving are two sons, David (Patricia) Pfeiffer of Chiefland, FL and Steven Pfeiffer of South Pekin; twin daughters, Diane (Allen) Fiedler of Winter Park, FL and Rita (Kip Nanninga) Pfeiffer of South Pekin; one step-son, Edward Goldsby; six grandchildren, Kevin Thompson of Pekin, Brian Combs of York, SC, Gary Fiedler, Keith Fiedler, both of Orlando, FL, David Pfeiffer of La Follette, TN and Karen Nash of Pekin and 9 great-grandchildren. She also leaves her dear friend and dance partner, Marty Eitenmiller of Pekin.

Catherine had worked as a nurse’s aide at the former Peoria State Hospital. She also had worked as a switchboard operator in South Pekin and at the former Tazewell County Nursing Home.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin and was a former volunteer at Pekin Hospital.

Her funeral Mass will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, September 11, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. Father Michael Andrejek will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin, where the recitation of the Rosary will be held at 2 p.m. Private burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the South Pekin Town Twisters, in care of the Village of South Pekin, P. O. Box 10, South Pekin, IL 61564.
