

Born May 31, 1923 in Philadelphia, PA to Hans J. and Winifred N. (Hartzel) Hagen, Sr., he married Mourine J. Smith on August 31, 1946 in Pekin. She preceded him in death on June 24, 1999 in Pekin.
Also preceding him in death are one brother and one sister..
Surviving are two sons, Charles J. Hagen, Jr. of Manito, David (Abby) Hagen of Manito; two daughters, Charreene (Roger) Wood of Pekin, Denise (David) Crociani of Omaha, NB; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Wayne S. Hagen of Mason City.
Charles was initiated into the Steamfitter's Local #528 in Pekin on April 25, 1941which later became the Steamfitter's Local # 353 in Peoria. He retired in 1985 after 44 years of service.
He had been a member of the Empire Lodge #126 Ancient Free & Accepted Masons; William Schaefer Post #44 American Legion in Pekin; and the Pekin Moose Family Center 916.
A devoted family man, Charles enjoyed traveling and was an avid bird watcher, in particular, he loved purple martins. He also loved fishing and hunting.
His funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
