Charles O Lowder

Born February 26, 1933 in Lowe Township, Moultrie County to Dallas Edgar and Thelma Gladys (Brown) Lowder, he married Joyce Madonna Connor on January 27, 1957 in Arcola. He then married Irene Jefford Tarpley on December 14, 2002 in Groveland. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Timothy Alan (Mona) Lowder of Dalton City; one daughter, Linda Lynn Redd of Urbana; one step-son, Charles F. "Buddy" Tarpley of Green Valley; three step-daughters, Darla L. (Jack) Olson of Green Valley, Paula J. (Clint) Williams of South Pekin, Brenda K. Crawford of Cadiz, Kentucky; five grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; two step-great-granddaughters; one brother, Robert (Ruth Ann) Lowder of Arthur and one sister, Sheralyn (Thomas) Ritter of Mattoon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant son, Larry E. Lowder and one brother, Kenneth Lowder.

He was a Korean War Army veteran.

He worked for Dixon Brothers Trucking in Arthur for 6 ½ years. He then worked as an electrician for Harris Electric Company in Atwood from 1970 to 1974. From 1974 to 1986, Charles owned and operated Lowder Electric in Arthur. He retired in 1992 from Harshman Plumbing and Heating in Sullivan, where he worked as an electrician for 6 years.

Charles was an associate member of Prairie View Baptist Church in Lake City and attended Faith Baptist Church in Pekin. At Pekin Faith he was a member of the Tuckabatchee Sunday school class. He enjoyed reading, camping and missions work. He was a faithful volunteer for the Bearing Precious Seed Bible Printing Ministry.

His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2007at Prairie View Baptist Church in Lake City. Rev Terry L. Bailey and Rev. Al Lynn will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2007at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, and also one hour before the funeral Friday at the church. Burial will be in Arthur Cemetery in Arthur.
