He was born December 30, 1947 in Henderson, North Carolina to John and Gertrude (Ferguson) Strother.
He married the love of his life, Alta Walton on January 20, 1977. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Charles (Glenda) Strother of Henderson, North Carolina; two daughters, Jodi (Kevin) Adams of Creve Coeur and Kimberly (Carl) Sale of Pekin; seven grandchildren, Jonathan, Brittney, Josh, Danyelle, Amber, Justin and Bryce and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant daughter.
Charles enjoyed making and playing music on his steel guitar and listening to records in his free time. He and his wife would enjoy going together to play gigs in their younger years. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
A gathering celebrating Charles’ life will be held at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.
