

Born May 16, 1936 in Peoria to Edward and Catherine (Chatwood) Fries, she married Rev. George Edgar “Ed” Walker on February 28, 1953 in East Peoria. He survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Lisa (Jay) Fox of Jacksonville; one son, Brian (Jennifer) Walker of Hopedale; three grandchildren, Nick Fox of Jacksonville, Rachel (Kyle) Ledbetter and Kayla Walker, both of Hopedale; one great-grandchild, Chevelle Ledbetter and one sister, Phyllis (J.W.) Williamson of Morton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Ted Chatwood and one sister, Ellen Harper.
Clara was a licensed cosmetologist and formerly owned and operated New Beginning Salon in Pekin. She also faithfully supported her husband in ministry at Grace Chapel in Marquette Heights, where he was the pastor for 24 years.
She loved to play the piano and enjoyed crocheting.
Clara was a member of Pekin First Church of the Nazarene.
Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. No services or visitation are planned. Inurnment will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington at a later date.
