

Born February 2, 1922 in Brownstown to Nelvin A. and Maggie Elsie (Bodine) Harris, he married Julia Susan "Judy" Hopkins on December 2, 1945 in California. She died April 4, 2006 in Greenwood, Indiana. Along with his parents, he also was preceded in death by his aunt and uncle who raised him, Eli and Martha Skidmor.
Surviving are one son, Ernest Lee Clark of Colorado; two foster sons, Bernard Ray (Carol) Beck of Commerce, Georgia and William Ray (Shirley) Hauger of Indianapolis; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; four sisters, Ruby Zick of Pekin, Beulah Lampe of Tremont, Ethel Colbert of Neoga and Betty Hansen of Chicago and one brother, Forrest Andrew Harris of Texas.
A Marine Corps veteran, he served three years in the South Pacific.
Daniel worked at Caterpillar, Inc for 40 years, retiring in 1982 as a general foreman.
He was a member of Creve Coeur American Legion Post 1234. He also was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 916 in Pekin. Dan enjoyed golfing.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2006at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Delmar Smith will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin with military rites accorded by the United States Marine Corps and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
